Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday alleged that the Congress party’s primary objective is to create confusion, not to seek solutions, amid a row over protests and parliamentary proceedings in New Delhi.
Referring to a Congress protest held without permission near the Prime Minister’s residence, she said the party initially demanded a discussion in Parliament when a minister was sent to the spot. The government agreed, she noted, but claimed Congress later added more conditions and continued to create disruptions even as the Centre remained ready for a detailed debate.
Sitharaman further alleged that Congress was trying to use the NEET examination issue and students to gain political mileage, while repeatedly stalling Parliament. She claimed the party was reluctant to participate in a debate because government actions and facts would come out during the discussion.
Appealing to Congress and other opposition parties, she urged them to take up issues through debate, saying the government would respond. She added that shouting down ministers who are prepared to answer serves no purpose, reiterating that Congress was interested only in chaos, not solutions.
