Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran on Tuesday alleged that “anti-national” elements were participating in the ongoing protests in Delhi under the guise of students. He claimed Congress was creating disruptions whenever key Bills are introduced in Parliament.
Speaking to reporters after the New Labour Party joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at an event held at the BJP state headquarters, Kamalalayam, Nagendran said Rahul Gandhi had been pushed into a position where he “hides behind” students after instigating them.
Nagendran also criticised what he called selective police action in Tamil Nadu. He referred to the arrest of a DMK MLA who had criticised Chief Minister Vijay, and alleged that complaints about derogatory social media posts targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi were not acted upon.
He said the BJP would hold a protest on Wednesday in Chennai by laying siege to the Congress office, Sathyamurthy Bhavan, to condemn Rahul Gandhi’s actions. He further questioned the display of the Palestinian flag at the Delhi protest, asking what connection it had with the NEET examination.
Nagendran additionally took aim at Chief Minister Vijay, saying he had expected him to be “detailed” but was disappointed. He alleged that ministers were travelling abroad without the Centre’s approval and criticised the cabinet for seeking a holiday for a film.
