Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai, who has launched an organisation called We The Leaders, is set to roll out his next “mega project” — a large-scale beach cleanup drive — across southern coastal districts.

The group had earlier announced a month-long series of anti-drug awareness programmes in July. As part of that campaign, events such as marathons, walks and skating programmes were held across Tamil Nadu, and Annamalai conducted his first conference against narcotics in Pollachi on July 12.

In the next phase, Annamalai will travel to the southern coastline to flag off the cleanup initiative. The drive is scheduled to begin on August 2 from the Kanyakumari beach road, according to the organisation.

We The Leaders representatives said similar cleanup activities will be launched at Uvari in Tirunelveli district and at Manapad and Tiruchendur in Thoothukudi district. Following the launch, Annamalai is also expected to interact with local fishermen during the trip.

The initiative is being positioned around environmental action, including efforts to curb pollution and maintain key tourism and heritage centres in Kanyakumari and Tiruchendur. Sources also noted that the organisation has seen its highest volunteer registrations from Kanyakumari district.
