Agriculture Minister Vinoth on Thursday said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will visit Karnataka on August 3 to take part in a consultation meeting linked to the Cauvery dispute.

Speaking in Thanjavur, the minister said the state government has consistently maintained that it will not allow the construction of the Mekedatu dam, calling it a matter of Tamil Nadu’s rights.

He said the Chief Minister’s visit is intended to discuss steps to prevent the dam from being built and to press Tamil Nadu’s position during the talks.

Referring to Karnataka’s claim that rainfall has been inadequate and water has not been released, Vinoth said the Chief Minister would still seek to secure Tamil Nadu’s rightful share.

The minister’s remarks were made during a media interaction that was streamed live on Dinamalar’s platforms.
