The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has issued a heat advisory for parts of Tamil Nadu, warning that maximum temperatures are likely to rise for five days.
According to the department, the districts expected to see higher heat are Vellore, Erode, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli.
The advisory states that from July 24 to July 28, maximum temperatures in these eight districts could be 2°C to 4°C above normal.
For the rest of Tamil Nadu, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal, the Met department said temperatures may remain close to normal during the same period.
