IAS officer Rajesh Lakhani has been appointed as the Land Administration Commissioner of the Tamil Nadu government, an official announcement said in Chennai.

A 1992-batch IAS officer, Lakhani had moved from Tamil Nadu to the central government on deputation in February. He was serving as Commissioner of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti under the Union Ministry of Education’s school education wing.

He was recently transferred back to the Tamil Nadu government, following which the state has now assigned him the Land Administration portfolio.

Lakhani has previously served as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Electoral Officer and as Chairman of the state electricity board. He has also held posts including District Collector of Theni and Kanyakumari, and Principal Secretary in the Housing Department.
