The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Central government to file a detailed affidavit in the case relating to the alleged NEET question paper leak.
A Bench comprising Justices P.S. Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said the Centre must explain the measures taken to arrive at a permanent solution, instead of relying on temporary steps to prevent leaks.
The court also sought a comprehensive report on reforms undertaken before, during and after the examination, including the exam system, exam centres, question paper printing, and the transportation process used to deliver papers to centres.
In addition, the Bench asked the Centre to clarify recommendations on conducting NEET in an online mode and the data security arrangements for such a system. It noted that using the Air Force to transport papers after the leak was only a stopgap measure and sought details on proposals to use technologies such as DigiYatra for verifying candidates.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that a fresh affidavit would be filed soon. The matter has been adjourned to July 27.
