Reports indicate DMK president M.K. Stalin has given the go-ahead to bring back party members who were earlier removed through disciplinary action, as the state heads toward the Assembly election.
The DMK leadership had previously taken action against certain speakers for making derogatory remarks about former Governor Ravi and actresses Khushbu, Nayanthara and Trisha, leading to their removal from the party.
The party also acted against some local body representatives and functionaries—ranging from councillors to area and union-level office-bearers—alleging conduct that harmed the party’s image. In Chennai West district, internal factional disputes reportedly led to the removal of youth wing functionaries and women councillors linked to the Thousand Lights constituency, with some of those removed later moving to TVK.
According to the report, around 150 people across Tamil Nadu who faced disciplinary action have submitted apology letters seeking re-entry. Senior leaders are said to have recommended their return, noting that they have remained loyal to the DMK for the past three months instead of shifting to TVK.
The report adds that Stalin has agreed to re-admit them after obtaining apology letters from those concerned.
