Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Prabhakar on Thursday said the government has no intention of diverting student protests, and rejected allegations that a recently released film was meant to influence students.
Speaking at an event in Chennai, he said Chief Minister Vijay was keen on fulfilling election promises, drawing a comparison with former Chief Minister M.G.R. on commitment to delivering welfare measures even amid concerns about financial burden.
Prabhakar said the government was monitoring where micro, small and medium enterprises were getting stalled and that fixing such issues was a responsibility. He added that major initiatives for the industry could be expected in the upcoming budget session.
After the event, he told reporters that the film Jananayagan had been released on a pre-announced date and was not intended to “brainwash” students. He reiterated that there was no plan to divert student protests.
