Salem: Former PMK MLA Arul recently met Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy and held talks that included the possibility of joining the NR Congress.
A function marking Kamarajar’s birth anniversary and Rangasamy’s birthday is scheduled to be held in Chennai on August 9. Arul’s supporters said there is a chance he could be announced as the NR Congress leader for Tamil Nadu at the event.
Responding to questions, Arul said he met the Puducherry Chief Minister as a courtesy and discussed the future political situation. He added that the option of joining Rangasamy’s party is under consideration.
Arul said his supporters have given a “green signal” and that he has been invited to the Chennai programme, which he will attend along with his supporters. He also said his decision would become a political turning point.
Meanwhile, Arul’s personal assistant Vijay posted on Facebook claiming that Arul has joined the NR Congress.
