A tense situation unfolded near Chidambaram after a Class 11 student was attacked at her house in Cuddalore district.
The student, from Keezha Moongiladi village in Melbhuvanagiri, was reportedly alone at home when she suddenly screamed in fear.
Neighbours rushed in after hearing her cries and said they saw a young man fleeing the spot after allegedly slashing the girl’s neck.
Police have taken up the case and are investigating the incident.
