In his latest Mann Ki Baat address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to people to support local artisans by purchasing at least one item of khadi, handloom or handicrafts during the upcoming festive season.
Marking July 26 as Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Prime Minister said the day fills the nation with pride and serves as a reminder of the courage of Indian soldiers. He paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives.
Modi also referred to recent defence-related developments, including the induction of INS Mahendragiri into the Indian Navy. He said the modern warship was designed and built in India, with more than 75% of its components made domestically.
He further noted that DRDO had successfully tested the Kusha missile, describing such achievements as reflecting India’s progress in defence technology. Calling for stronger support for local products, he said encouragement for handloom is improving livelihoods across the country.
