Prahlad Joshi on Saturday formally assumed charge as the new Union Education Minister in New Delhi.
The Education portfolio was assigned to him as an additional responsibility after former minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned, taking responsibility for the NEET question paper leak issue.
In a post on X, Joshi said he had taken charge as Education Minister and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with the responsibility. He added that he was accepting the role with a sense of duty.
Soon after taking charge, a departmental review meeting was held under Joshi’s chairmanship. Union Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary, Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi, newly appointed School Education Secretary Anil Kumar, and other senior ministry officials attended the meeting.
