Former DMK minister Senthil Balaji appeared at the Triplicane police station in Chennai on Saturday in connection with an alleged conspiracy to topple the government. Police questioned him for around one-and-a-half hours, according to sources.
The case relates to allegations that Krishnagiri district Uthangarai TVK MLA Ilaiyaraja was approached for horse-trading. Senthil Balaji and his brother Ashok Kumar are named in the case and have obtained conditional anticipatory bail.
As per court directions, both are required to sign at the Triplicane police station twice a day, in the morning and evening. On the first day, they appeared and signed, and police questioned them for about five hours.
Investigators reportedly questioned them about seized audio recordings and WhatsApp chats. After Saturday’s questioning, Senthil Balaji told reporters that the inquiry was still underway and said he would speak after it concludes.
