Washington: After 13 consecutive days of U.S. strikes on Iran, former President Donald Trump has ordered a temporary pause, according to reports.
The attacks began after a peace agreement with Iran collapsed. In response, Iran has launched missiles and drones at U.S. bases in countries including Qatar and Jordan.
Even as a new strike plan was prepared, Trump decided to halt operations for now. U.S. media reports said the move was influenced by diplomatic progress, concerns over U.S. stockpiles of missiles and other weapons, and fears that further escalation could widen the conflict.
The White House has not issued an official statement on the decision. However, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said Trump continues to prefer a diplomatic solution, while warning that military action could be considered if Iran attacks in the Strait of Hormuz or continues strikes against U.S. allies.
