New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the formation of a high-powered committee to carry out examination reforms, to be led by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani.
In a video message, the Prime Minister said the government is continuously working for students’ future. He added that those who harmed students’ prospects are in jail, and that a fast-track court has already been set up.
Modi said the examination system must be made more reliable and transparent, with full use of technology. Keeping these goals in mind, he said the committee will focus on reforms and submit a report.
Based on the panel’s recommendations, the government will take steps to quickly ensure the credibility of upcoming examinations. The Prime Minister also said a new law with strict provisions will be passed in Parliament.
Nilekani, who hails from Karnataka, is a co-founder of Infosys and was born in Bengaluru in 1955. He holds an electrical engineering degree from IIT Bombay and has served in various roles at Infosys, becoming CEO in 2002. He has also been associated with India’s digital infrastructure initiatives, including work linked to UPI, and has served on several government technology-related committees.
