A shooting at a major food festival in Seattle, United States, left two people dead and five others injured, including children, according to local reports.
The incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday at the Seattle Center area, where the three-day “Bite of Seattle” food festival was underway. Organisers had expected the event to draw up to about 350,000 visitors.
Witnesses reported that unidentified individuals opened fire on festival-goers, triggering panic at the venue. Two people died on the spot, while the injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police reached the scene soon after receiving information, evacuated the public to safety, and recovered the bodies. Authorities said an investigation is ongoing and urged people not to visit the Seattle Center area until further notice.
