The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai has forecast light to moderate rain at a few places across Tamil Nadu from July 27 to August 2.

In its bulletin, the weather office said a weak trough persists in the lower levels of the atmosphere over coastal Tamil Nadu. It also noted that rain has occurred at isolated locations in the state, while Puducherry recorded very light rainfall.

For July 27, isolated places in the north coastal districts and Western Ghats districts, along with Puducherry and Karaikal, may receive moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds. Other districts may see light to moderate rain with thunderstorms at a few places.

On July 28 and 29, the Western Ghats districts may continue to get moderate rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds at isolated locations, while other districts, Puducherry and Karaikal may receive light rain with thunderstorms at a few places.

The bulletin also indicates a chance of heavy rain at isolated places in Nilgiris on July 30, and in Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Theni on July 31. For August 1 and 2, isolated moderate rain is likely over the Western Ghats districts, north coastal districts, Puducherry and Karaikal, with light rain at a few places elsewhere.
