Vijay’s film Jananayagan, released on July 23 and described as his last film, has come under legal scrutiny at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed alleging that the film wrongly depicts Pappapatti village. The petitioner has sought removal of objectionable scenes and requested a ban on the film.

The matter was heard on July 28 by a division bench comprising Justices Karthikeyan and Sakthivel. The court directed that notice be issued to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to file its response.

The bench also ordered the film’s producer and director to submit their replies to the petition.
