A police inspector has been arrested in Chennai following allegations of sexual harassment of a woman who was walking on a road in Velachery.
The accused has been identified as Manimaran, an inspector attached to the Ranipet Traffic Intelligence Wing. Police said the incident took place on Sunday.
Based on the victim’s complaint, action was initiated against the inspector and he was taken into custody.
Officials said an intensive inquiry is under way. During the inquiry, it was found that the accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
