The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed the police to immediately register a case against YouTubers Bismi and Tamilan Gokul over alleged defamatory remarks made about Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator Seeman.

The order came on a petition filed by the NTK side seeking action against the two YouTubers, alleging that they spoke about Seeman in a defamatory manner in their videos.

During the hearing, Justice Victoria Gowri questioned why the police had not registered a case so far in this matter, while an FIR was promptly filed against a DMK MLA for remarks related to the Chief Minister.

The judge observed that irrespective of electoral victory or defeat, Seeman remains an “unavoidable” leader in Tamil Nadu politics. The court directed that the videos be removed immediately, and instructed the police to register the case on July 28 and submit a report to the court on July 29.
