The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has issued a warning of heavy rain in parts of Tamil Nadu on July 31 and August 1.
In its bulletin, the weather office said scattered rainfall was recorded at a few places in Tamil Nadu, while Puducherry reported very light rain.
The RMC attributed the expected weather to a weak trough in the lower atmosphere prevailing over the coastal parts of Tamil Nadu.
Heavy rain is likely in the Nilgiris, Theni, Kanyakumari, the hilly areas of Tirunelveli, and the hilly areas of Coimbatore on July 31 and August 1.
