CB-CID police have arrested four people in connection with an alleged land scam involving property linked to the Thandapani Swamy Mutt in Palani, Dindigul district.
According to the complaint, land on Park Road near the Palani foothills—estimated to be worth around Rs 100 crore—was allegedly registered in the names of private individuals using forged documents, in violation of a court order.
As part of the probe, investigators questioned several individuals, including Sub-Registrar Justin Manikandan, Murugadas associated with a trust, and others linked to the registration and related processes. Officials from the temple administration, revenue department and registration department were also examined.
CB-CID said it has so far recorded statements and collected evidence from 82 people, covering roles such as sellers, beneficiaries, witnesses, brokers, clerks and those involved in maintenance and administration.
In the case where four persons had been booked, the agency on Tuesday arrested Vellathurai, Anvartheen, Murugadas and Sethupathi. Police said further interrogation is under way to ascertain the details of the alleged fraud.
