Chennai: Chief Minister Vijay has instructed officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department to ensure that devotees visiting temples receive all essential facilities without any shortcomings.

The directions were issued during a high-level consultation on temple administration and the functioning of the HR&CE Department, held at the Secretariat.

According to officials, the Chief Minister said the government must ensure that pilgrims undertaking spiritual visits can have darshan and return without hardship. He called for an adequate number of toilets at temples, their hygienic upkeep, and the appointment of sufficient staff for maintenance.

He also directed that purified drinking water be provided to devotees waiting in queues during summer and on special days.

Further, he asked for separate pathways to give priority in darshan for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and mothers visiting with children, and stressed that temple premises should be kept clean.
