The Lok Sabha was adjourned shortly after it convened at 11 am on July 30, following loud protests by Opposition MPs. Speaker Om Birla issued repeated warnings, but the disruptions continued, leading to the House being adjourned till 2 pm.

The ongoing Monsoon Session, which began on July 20, has seen frequent interruptions. The issue has also been linked to protests over the alleged NEET question paper leak and the reported lathi-charge on youths during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

In the Rajya Sabha, proceedings continued from 11 am amid the commotion. During the session, Union Minister J P Nadda said through the Chair that the Opposition’s role had been “entirely negative”.

He alleged that since the start of the session, the Opposition’s focus had been on disrupting the House and preventing it from functioning.
