Union minister JP Nadda on Wednesday alleged that opposition parties are deliberately trying to avoid debate in Parliament, even as the Centre remains prepared to discuss issues raised by them.
He said the Monsoon Session, which began on July 20, has seen repeated disruptions, with opposition members stalling official business for the ninth consecutive day. The government, he added, was willing to hold discussions on matters including the NEET question paper leak.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Nadda claimed the opposition’s focus since the start of the session has been to obstruct proceedings in both Houses. He also alleged that the issues being flagged are being raised without evidence and that demands are being changed repeatedly.
According to him, the Narendra Modi-led government is open to debate on all subjects and has provided responses whenever constructive discussion has taken place. He said a debate was expected even on Wednesday on an issue sought by the opposition, but they later shifted their stand, which he strongly criticised.
