NASA has announced that it will livestream the rare total solar eclipse scheduled for August 12, allowing the public to watch the event through its official website and social media channels.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, casting its shadow on the planet and briefly blocking the Sun from view.
According to the details shared, viewers in Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean region, Portugal, Spain and northern parts of Russia will be able to witness the Sun being completely covered by the Moon. In parts of the United States, Europe and some African countries, the eclipse will appear as a partial one.
The overall event is expected to last about 4 hours and 23 minutes. As it will take place at night in India (as per Indian time), it will not be visible from the country, but it can still be watched via NASA’s livestream.
