Chennai: Minister Ramesh on Wednesday announced that new tender guidelines have been introduced for temple-related works, and that all tenders will be published through an online system.
Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said the revised framework is aimed at ensuring opportunities are not limited to a few large contractors, but are accessible to a wider set of applicants. He added that uniform tender application formats have been prepared for all temples after a 40-day review.
The minister said the documents have been prepared in both Tamil and English. Going forward, all tenders under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department will be processed online, including the request for quotations and the auction process.
He also said GST and PAN will be mandatory for all tenders, and that price lists must be accurate to enable monitoring of whether sales are being made at appropriate rates.
Referring to complaints about parking charges varying across temples, he said the department is planning to introduce digital billing, and tenders related to this initiative have also been brought in.
