China’s President Xi Jinping will visit India in September to attend the BRICS summit scheduled in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, according to reports.

The summit will bring together ministers and other representatives from BRICS member countries. Xi is expected to arrive on September 12 to take part in the meetings.

The visit comes after India and China recently reached an understanding related to border patrolling. Against this backdrop, the trip is being seen as a potential boost to bilateral trade ties.

This will be Xi’s first visit to India since the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. The report also said Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India on September 12 for the summit.

India is holding the BRICS chair for 2026, and the upcoming summit in New Delhi is being held during its presidency.
