Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday presented the Lokmanya Tilak National Award to National Security Adviser Ajit Doval at a function held in Pune, Maharashtra.
Speaking at the event, Shah said the honour would serve as fresh motivation for those who work with dedication for the country. He recalled knowing Doval since his own tenure as Gujarat’s Home Minister.
Shah referred to the investigation into a series of bomb blasts in Gujarat, saying Doval had suggested that the probe also examine blast incidents across the country. Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi later asked him to arrange discussions between Doval and his department officials.
According to Shah, inputs and guidance from Doval helped the Gujarat Police not only solve the Ahmedabad blast case but also crack 13 blast incidents nationwide. He added that when Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, Doval was chosen as NSA even before the appointment of the Principal Secretary, underlining Doval’s importance in both internal and external security.
