The Union government has released Rs 1,09,019 crore as tax devolution to states, including Rs 4,466 crore for Tamil Nadu, according to a statement issued by the Finance Ministry.
The ministry said the release includes an additional amount along with the sum that is usually disbursed in August. The extra funds are intended to help states speed up capital expenditure and development spending.
Among the states, Uttar Pradesh received the highest allocation at Rs 19,208 crore. Bihar was allotted Rs 10,845 crore, followed by Madhya Pradesh with Rs 8,010 crore and West Bengal with Rs 7,866 crore.
Maharashtra received Rs 7,022 crore and Rajasthan Rs 6,460 crore. Odisha was allotted Rs 4,819 crore, Andhra Pradesh Rs 4,597 crore, while Tamil Nadu’s share in this release stood at Rs 4,466 crore.
