Water has been released from the Kabini reservoir towards Tamil Nadu at a rate of 5,000 cubic feet per second (cusecs), according to reports.
Officials attributed the move to continuous rainfall in the reservoir’s catchment areas, which has led to a rise in the water level.
With the catchment receiving steady rain, inflow into the Kabini reservoir has increased to 15,675 cusecs.
As the reservoir level climbed, the release was stepped up to manage the rising storage and regulate downstream flow.
