Union minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday claimed that Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi is “scared” by the growing support Prime Minister Narendra Modi is receiving among young people.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Goyal said youth backing for Modi is increasing day by day. He alleged that Rahul Gandhi, who projects himself as a youth leader, currently lacks appeal among young voters, while support continues to remain with the BJP.
Goyal specifically pointed to Gen Z, saying the younger generation is consistently with the BJP. He added that young people continue to support Modi’s long-term vision of making India a developed nation.
He also said Modi is among the most popular leaders globally and that his engagement with youth and presence on social media would help strengthen the country’s development.
On the issue of question paper leaks, Goyal said the Congress-led UPA had planned a law on the matter as early as 2010–11 but did not have the courage to introduce it. He said the BJP-led NDA brought the law in 2024 and that additional provisions have now been added to strengthen it.
