Hydrogen-powered trains have begun to take shape in India, and a homegrown startup is working behind the scenes on a key piece of the ecosystem: safe, transportable hydrogen storage.

India has long depended on imports for high-pressure composite storage cylinders used to store and move hydrogen over distances. That reliance has meant higher costs, long lead times and complex logistics for domestic companies.

To address this gap, Ajith Babu and Vora launched Gudlyf Mobility in 2022. The company is developing 700-bar Type IV and Type V cylinders, positioning them as advanced, patented solutions for high-pressure hydrogen storage.

The initiative is presented as a milestone not only for lowering import burden but also for supporting India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission. The cylinders are also described as enabling domestic momentum for hydrogen vehicles, drones and space-related requirements.

Beyond cylinders, the startup is working on battery analytics and lithium–hydrogen hybrid energy systems. It has received recognition including the “Startup Mahakumbh 2025” award and “Bharat Innovates 2026” international acknowledgement, along with funding support from organisations including Cummins India.
