New Delhi: A fresh round of discussion has begun within the Congress over who should be the party’s next key leader, with some leaders and workers arguing that Priyanka Gandhi, rather than Rahul Gandhi, is better placed to take on the BJP and help the party return to power at the Centre.

The renewed chatter follows a recent protest over the alleged NEET question paper leak held near the Prime Minister’s residence, a high-security zone. Congress leaders staged a sit-in, and Priyanka Gandhi drew attention when she lay down on the road as part of the demonstration.

The episode reportedly caught the Delhi Police off guard. Police struggled to move her into a bus for detention as women police personnel tried to pull her inside while Congress women workers pulled from outside, briefly delaying the vehicle’s departure.

After being taken into custody, she was later released. In the aftermath, party workers have been praising her bold approach and claiming she is performing and speaking more effectively than Rahul Gandhi, while the report notes that Sonia Gandhi continues to project Rahul as the party’s main face.
