A video of Congress workers washing the feet of senior Maharashtra Congress leader Nana Patole has gone viral on social media, triggering political reactions.
The incident reportedly took place during Guru Purnima celebrations. Patole has earlier served as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly.
Reacting to the footage, the BJP condemned the act. Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said such behaviour reflects the “culture” of Congress leaders.
He added that the party should learn lessons and questioned the need for such events, saying they would only invite criticism and negative reactions.
