Minister Ramesh has said the Tamil Nadu government will ensure that all temple properties are protected and that irregularities linked to temple assets will be identified through sustained action.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said the government would not tolerate corruption and that those found guilty would face punishment. He added that the administration would act against wrongdoing rather than merely making statements.
Ramesh said discussions are under way on releasing a white paper on alleged corruption in the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department during the previous regime.
He also said the government is reviewing what temple properties were allegedly misappropriated and what lapses occurred earlier. Committees are to be formed to safeguard each temple’s assets and to detect irregularities, he said, adding that the results of the continuous measures would become visible over time.
