Chennai: Allegations have surfaced that executives linked to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) are being given government roles, while the related government orders are not being published publicly.
After Chief Minister Vijay assumed office, Ricky Rathan Pandit Vetrivel—described as the CM’s court astrologer—was appointed as a Special Officer through a government order that was issued in the usual manner. Following objections from various parties, the Tamil Nadu government later cancelled that order.
Subsequently, John Arokiyasamy and Vishnu Reddy, who are said to be working as the CM’s advisers and political-election strategists, were reportedly appointed by the government, with the information emerging on May 5. However, the government order for their appointment was not made public, even as they are said to be attending cabinet and senior officials’ meetings.
Reports also claim that Jagatheesh, described as the CM’s social media admin, and Ramkumar, an assistant, have been appointed as the CM’s personal assistants, again without the relevant orders being released. Separately, Nayeem Moosa, a bouncer who handled security arrangements during TVK campaigns, is said to be accompanying the CM along with security police, though his official role has not been clarified.
Further, it is alleged that Guru, formerly a social media fan club head, has been made head of the state’s fact-checking unit, and Divya, linked to TVK’s IT wing, has been appointed as Special Officer for the social media division under the Information and Public Relations Department—without public disclosure of the orders. Critics say this secrecy contradicts the CM’s stated commitment to transparent governance, while opposition voices allege the moves are aimed at limiting scrutiny.
