Boxing emerged as India’s biggest highlight this time. Indian boxers secured 10 medals in total, including seven gold, with Jasmine, Sakshi, Preethi and Sachin among the champions. Weightlifting also contributed significantly, with India collecting eight medals — one gold, six silver and one bronze. Mirabai Chanu won gold again, completing a hat-trick of Commonwealth titles.
A notable feature of the campaign was the impact of India’s para athletes. Among 11 para stars, six won medals, helping India secure seven para medals overall — three gold, two silver and two bronze — matching the country’s total para medal count from the six editions between 2002 and 2022.
In judo, Asmita created history by becoming the first Indian to win Commonwealth gold in the sport. India’s judo tally stood at four medals — two gold, one silver and one bronze — while Jandu Kumar won a bronze in para powerlifting.
