Two satellites are positioned at ISRO’s Sriharikota launch centre and are ready to be sent into orbit once the Union government grants clearance, according to reports.
India’s indigenous navigation system, NavIC, has seen one of its satellites complete its operational life of about 10 years and become outdated. At present, only a limited set of related satellites—IRNSS-1B, IRNSS-2 and NVS-01—are stated to be functioning.
With accurate location services requiring four satellites to work together, ISRO has kept NVS-03 and GSAT-1A in launch-ready condition at the spaceport.
After approval from the central space department, the satellites will be fueled and the launch date is expected to be announced.
