DMK president M.K. Stalin has condemned the arrest connected to alleged obscene remarks about an actress, and claimed it was part of an attempt to stop Opposition leader Udhayanidhi from attending the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
In a statement referenced by Dinamalar TV, Stalin said Udhayanidhi, while speaking at a DMK protest in Thanjavur, had sharply criticised the government and highlighted what he described as its repeated failures.
Stalin also pointed to the Cauvery issue, alleging that the government had failed on the matter.
The DMK leader framed the arrest as politically motivated and reiterated his party’s condemnation of the action.
