New Delhi: The BJP on Monday accused the Congress and the opposition INDIA alliance of deliberately preventing the smooth conduct of Parliament’s Monsoon Session.
Speaking at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, party spokesperson and Lok Sabha MP Sambit Patra said the opposition has been creating repeated disruptions since the session began on July 20, leading to frequent adjournments in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
Opposition parties in the INDIA bloc have been raising issues including the alleged NEET question paper leak, police action against students at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, and the use of pellet guns, which the BJP said has been used as a pretext to stall proceedings.
Patra argued that each session involves significant public expenditure and claimed the continued protests were wasting taxpayers’ money by not allowing legislative business to take place.
He also alleged that the Congress remains silent when question paper leaks occur in states ruled by it or its allies, citing Karnataka and Jharkhand, while reacting strongly when incidents happen in BJP-ruled states. Patra further criticised the opposition for staging a street play in the Parliament complex and made sharp remarks against Rahul Gandhi.
