Dubai’s Jebel Ali port area and a nearby industrial zone witnessed a series of powerful attacks on Wednesday, triggering heightened tension in the emirate. Authorities said seven explosions were heard within a span of 20 minutes.
Thick black smoke was seen rising high from the affected locations, according to official accounts. However, UAE officials have not released information on the nature of the incident or the extent of any damage.
The developments come amid wider regional hostilities, with reports of Iran targeting Gulf countries that support the United States, and Iran-aligned groups such as Yemen’s Houthi rebels also carrying out attacks.
Iraqi media outlets claimed the Dubai incident was caused by a missile attack launched from Yemen, though there has been no official confirmation from the UAE. Separately, reports also emerged of explosions in Sanaa, Yemen’s capital.
Iran’s Mehr news agency cited NASA imagery to claim a fire broke out at a fuel storage and distribution facility near the port, but local authorities have not issued a formal statement on the claim.
