Tamil Nadu’s latest budget has detailed department-wise financial allocations across key sectors, outlining spending priorities for the year.
Among the largest heads, the state has earmarked Rs 47,240 crore for the Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare Department. School Education has been allocated Rs 44,527 crore, while Rural Development and Panchayat Raj has received Rs 39,609 crore.
Urban-focused spending includes Rs 29,863 crore for Municipal Administration and Rs 8,852 crore for Housing and Urban Development. Highways and Minor Ports has been allotted Rs 21,524 crore, and the Transport Department Rs 13,561 crore.
In social sectors, Health and Family Welfare has been allocated Rs 23,357 crore, Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Rs 9,818 crore, and Differently Abled Welfare Rs 1,485 crore. Higher Education has received Rs 8,393 crore.
Other allocations include Rs 15,828 crore for the Electricity/Energy sector, Rs 8,028 crore for Cooperation, Rs 4,414 crore for Industries, Rs 4,880 crore for Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries, and Rs 398 crore for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) department.
