Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Medical Education Student Admissions Committee has clarified that there is no change in the state’s MBBS and other medical course counselling procedures, as the state is already following the revisions proposed by the Centre.
The clarification comes after the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) introduced certain changes to the rules for counselling under the All India Quota, triggering doubts among students and parents about possible amendments to Tamil Nadu’s state quota rules.
On certificate verification, the committee said the integrated online process will continue as usual. Certificates uploaded during application registration will be scrutinised online, while original documents will be verified in person only when candidates report to the allotted college after counselling.
Candidates who do not wish to join a seat allotted through counselling must submit their rejection request only online through the official website, www.tnmedicalselection.org. Requests made directly will not be accepted.
The committee added that the option to upgrade or change seats in subsequent rounds for candidates who participated in the first round will continue as per the existing system. Government quota, management quota, minority and NRI seats will also be filled under the current procedure, and students were advised to rely only on official updates and not on social media rumours.
