Beijing has placed six leading US companies on a sanctions blacklist and announced stricter enforcement of export controls on drones, amid escalating trade and technology tensions between the two countries.
The move comes after the United States recently imposed new tariffs and restrictions, and also banned certain Chinese robots, citing national security concerns. The latest steps have further strained bilateral relations.
China said it is tightening controls on US export-linked firms as a response to Washington’s trade actions. The six entities added to the blacklist include a biotechnology company and a geoscience research institute, according to the report.
In addition to the sanctions listing, China has reinforced limits on drone exports. It has also barred companies and individuals in China from engaging in transactions and other dealings with the blacklisted US firms.
