The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast heavy rain in seven districts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

In its bulletin, the Met Department said an atmospheric circulation is prevailing over south interior Karnataka and adjoining areas. It also noted a weak trough in the lower-level atmosphere over the north Tamil Nadu coastal belt.

Due to these weather systems, heavy rainfall is likely in Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Nilgiris, the hilly areas of Coimbatore, the hilly areas of Theni, the hilly areas of Tirunelveli, and the hilly areas of Kanniyakumari.

The department added that on Thursday (August 7), heavy rain is expected in the Nilgiris and the hilly areas of Coimbatore and Theni.
