CB-CID police have arrested sub-registrar Justin Manikandan in connection with an alleged land registration fraud involving property linked to the Palani Dhandayuthapani temple and a math in Dindigul district. The arrest comes after the cancellation of his anticipatory bail.
According to the case details, around 1.40 acres of land said to belong to the math—estimated to be worth about Rs 100 crore—was recently registered in the name of a private individual. Following complaints of fraud, a court intervened and cancelled the registration deed.
CB-CID registered a case against Justin Manikandan Subramanian and began an investigation. He had earlier obtained interim anticipatory bail from the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, which was cancelled on Tuesday.
Police said he was detained near Pannaikadu, close to Kodaikanal, while travelling in a vehicle, and was taken to Dindigul for questioning. With this, he becomes the fifth person arrested in the case, after four others were taken into custody earlier.
