Court overturns 2021 acquittal

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday held former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal guilty in a sexual assault case linked to an incident reported in 2013.

Case relates to Goa hotel conference

According to the case, the alleged assault took place during a conference at a star hotel in Goa, where a woman employee working with Tejpal accused him of sexual assault.

Trial court had cleared him citing lack of evidence

In 2021, a Goa trial court had acquitted Tejpal, stating that there was insufficient evidence. The government later challenged that verdict through an appeal.

Sentence to be announced

A division bench comprising Justices Neela Gokhale and Amit Jamsandekar delivered the guilty verdict. The court is expected to announce the punishment details later this afternoon.
