India on August 6 successfully conducted a test of the Agni-4 ballistic missile, a system capable of carrying nuclear warheads, in a move seen as strengthening the country’s defence readiness.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence, the launch was carried out from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha. The ministry said the trial was completed successfully.
Officials said the missile achieved all pre-set operational and technical objectives during the test.
Agni-4 is designed to strike targets up to 4,000 km away. It is a two-stage, solid-fuel, surface-to-surface missile.
The latest test comes months after India successfully tested the Agni-3 missile, the ministry noted.
